Six-Week Intro to Pottery - Saturdays

$325.00

6 week long courses for first time wheel throwers. Participants do not need previous wheel experience. For beginner adults only. The class runs for 2 hours, includes demonstrations and hands-on instruction.

Saturdays from 11-1pm

Dates:

Jan/Feb - January 11th, 18th, 25th, Feb 1st, 8th, and 15th.

Week One: Basic introduction to wheel throwing and centering. Learn about basic clay types and clay wedging. Learn how to create cylinders and techniques for pulling up walls.

Week Two: Wheel throwing, review techniques from week one. Learn to create a variety of shapes, from bowls to cups.

Week Three: Basic introduction to trimming. Learn how to trim your wheel-thrown greenware. Learn to create handles with slabs, extruding, and pulling.

Week Four: Basic introduction to hand-building. Learn techniques like coiling and pinching slab work.

Week Five: Open class to practice your wheel throwing or hand-building skills.

Week Six: Basic glaze introduction. Learn about the different types of glazes and techniques.

NOTE: Workshops are non-refundable, but they are transferable.
