Six-Week Intermediate Pottery - Saturdays

6 week long courses for intermediate wheel throwers. Participants do need previous wheel experience. The class runs for 2 hours, includes demonstrations and hands-on instruction.

Saturdays from 1-3pm

Dates:

Jan/Feb - January 11th, 18th, 25th, Feb 1st, 8th, and 15th.

Week One: Advanced wheel throwing and centering. Learn about clay types, plasticity, and using slip to add design. Learn how to create elegant and elevated pots.

Week Two: Wheel throwing, review techniques from week one. Learn to create a variety of shapes, adding facets and texture while on the wheel. Altering rims, forms, and feet.

Week Three: Chucks, Chums, Foam Bats, and the Giffin Grip. Learn different approaches on how to trim your wheel-thrown greenware. Learn to create handles with textured slabs, extruding, and pulling, on and off the vessel.

Week Four: Introducing hand-building. Learn techniques like coiling and pinching onto slab work. Join wheel thrown and slabs into one piece to make non round shapes or large forms.

Week Five: Open class to practice your wheel throwing or hand-building skills.

Week Six: Advanced glaze introduction. Learn about the different types of glaze techniques and applications. Including brushing, dipping, and spraying. We will also talk about glaze resists and will have digital design available if you want to create your own stickers to use.

NOTE: Workshops are non-refundable, but they are transferable.
